{"id":1003,"date":"2023-10-23T15:54:47","date_gmt":"2023-10-23T15:54:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dunbarchoral.org.uk\/dc\/?p=1003"},"modified":"2023-10-23T15:57:47","modified_gmt":"2023-10-23T15:57:47","slug":"we-went-and-sang","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dunbarchoral.org.uk\/dc\/2023\/10\/23\/we-went-and-sang\/","title":{"rendered":"We went and sang"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8230; Faur\u00e9 in Duns<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the best efforts of Storm Babet, eight members of choir, and Alberto, joined in the <strong>Come and Sing<\/strong> weekend of Faur\u00e9 <em>Requiem, <\/em>led by Kit Hobkirk, in <strong>Duns <\/strong>Volunteer Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The assembled choir&nbsp; of seventy singers had travelled from Duns and surrounding villages; from&nbsp; Berwick, Edinburgh and even as far away as Dorset and, if not returning home on Saturday night&nbsp; were staying with friends, at nearby inns or on the sheltered caraven site in&nbsp; Paxton House walled garden.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kit had 9 hours of rehearsal time lined up for the weekend with the emphasis, not on note-bashing, but on mouth shape (particularly for the rendition in French of Faur\u00e9 <em>Cantique de Jean Racine) <\/em>and on emotion \u2013 handwringing and seaweed gently waving beneath the waves lapping on the shores of a Hebridean island were two ideas we tried to convey.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was hard work for all, but under the expert tuition of Kit and&nbsp; much excellent sustenance&nbsp; provided by local Duns establishments and served by a wonderful team of volunteers, the audience were treated to a fabulous&nbsp; programme presented by the \u2018scratch\u2019 choir and orchestra with 2 amazing soloists \u2013 Paul Grant and Olivia Massimo \u2013 performing the solos of this requiem.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230; Faur\u00e9 in Duns Despite the best efforts of Storm Babet, eight members of choir, and Alberto, joined in the Come and Sing weekend of Faur\u00e9 Requiem, led by Kit&hellip; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1003","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.dunbarchoral.org.uk\/dc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1003","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.dunbarchoral.org.uk\/dc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.dunbarchoral.org.uk\/dc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.dunbarchoral.org.uk\/dc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.dunbarchoral.org.uk\/dc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1003"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/www.dunbarchoral.org.uk\/dc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1003\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1005,"href":"https:\/\/www.dunbarchoral.org.uk\/dc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1003\/revisions\/1005"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.dunbarchoral.org.uk\/dc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1003"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.dunbarchoral.org.uk\/dc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1003"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.dunbarchoral.org.uk\/dc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1003"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
